Description: Exploration of technical and expressive possibilities of various media in painting.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Define common terms used in painting. (I)
2. Review historical developments in painting. (II)
3. Analyze the use and significance of color in painting. (II, VI, IX)
4. Prepare various painting surfaces and supports for use. (III)
5. Employ a variety of painting tools and approaches relevant to the conceptual, aesthetic and technical application. (IV)
6. Solve compositional design problems throughout the painting process. (IV, V, VI, VII, IX)
7. Discuss presentation and display options for finished paintings. (VIII)
8. Critique their own paintings and paintings created by others. (IX)
