Description: Hands-on experience working in a college newsroom developing content as reporters, photographers, editors, and other roles on the student news team. Roles and responsibilities vary depending on student goals.

2. Apply newsroom procedures and policies. (I-V)
3. Demonstrate judgment in the assignment, selection, and placement of news articles. (I-V)
4. Produce news content using research techniques. (I, II, IV, V)
5. Plan photographic coverage for the campus news media. (I, III, IV, V)
6. Collaborate with other members of the news team. (I, IV, V)
7. Develop professional working relationships including creating sources. (I, V)
8. Write, under pressure of deadline, professional copy in multiple media platforms demonstrating a high degree of fairness, accuracy and balance. (II)
9. Apply appropriate style in editing and rewriting stories. (II)
10. Apply design techniques and produce newspaper pages and media content. (II, III, IV)
11. Write headlines to fit space using appropriate headline guidelines. (III)
12. Identify legal and ethical issues as they relate to student media. (V)
