Description: Cultural practices of vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants as they relate to organic and inorganic gardening.

1. Develop a plan for a garden in the Southwest. (I) 2. Demonstrate proper planting techniques. (II) 3. Describe various soil types. (III) 4. Develop an irrigation schedule for a garden. (IV) 5. Demonstrate organic gardening practices. (V) 6. Apply appropriate fertilizers in a garden. (VI) 7. Utilize hydroponic growing methods. (VII) 8. Determine appropriate control methods for insects, weeds, and diseases. (VIII) 9. Describe climatic influences that affect a garden. (IX) 10. Recommend cultural practices for specific garden vegetables. (X)
