Description: Emphasis on the acquisition of basic English vocabulary including identifying and pronouncing words related to people, medical/dental care, occupations and other activities.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify and pronounce basic nouns and verbs relating to people, relationships, the human body, foods, the household, the weather, medical and dental care, and public institutions and community services. (I)
2. Use basic nouns and verbs relating to people, relationships, the human body, foods, the household, the weather, medical and dental care, and public institutions and community services in oral and written simple sentences. (I)
3. Associate pictures with oral cues. (I)
4. Identify commonly used verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, and conjunctions in context. (II)
5. Use commonly used verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, and conjunctions in context. (II)
