Description: Advanced therapeutic skills and professional reasoning in pediatric settings. Emphasis on journaling, discussion board interactions, in-service and case presentations, documentation of patient care interventions, and remediation plan development.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Complete orientation to the policies and procedures of the pediatric clinical site. (I) 
2. Demonstrate professional behavior including reporting on time, attending all scheduled sessions and conforming to all policies and procedures of assigned pediatric setting. (I)
3. Practice communication ensuring client confidentiality in a pediatric setting. (I)
4. Develop patient case presentation, inservice, or a legacy project appropriate to the individual, group, or population of the pediatric clinical site. (II-IV) 
5. Present patient case presentation, inservice, or a legacy project appropriate to the individual, group, or population of the pediatric clinical site. (II-IV)
6. Apply effective communication strategies in the pediatric clinical setting. (IV, V) 
7. Describe patient care experiences encountered in the pediatric clinical setting. (IV-VI) 
8. Collaborate with clients, staff and fieldwork educators in a pediatric clinical setting. (V)
9. Accurately document pediatric patient care using the Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan (SOAP) note format. (V, VI) 
10. Self-evaluate clinical performance in the pediatric clinical setting. (VI, VII) 
11. Develop action plans to address areas needing improvement in pediatric clinical performance. (VII)
12. Evaluate the clinical instructor and clinical site related to the pediatric clinical setting. (VIII)
