Description: Introduction to the field of aesthetics including application of theory and skills to deliver an effective skin care facial treatment and client pre and post consultations. Focus on effective client communication, interpersonal skills, sanitation, Arizona laws, client care, and facial care.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Discuss the field of aesthetics including the history, opportunities, and trends. (I)
2. Perform basic consultation, services, advisement, and documentation within the scope of practice and for the appropriate setting. (I-V)
3. Perform skincare treatments using an understanding of foundational chemistry, biology, skin conditions, and infection control protocols. (I-V)
4. Collaborate effectively with a diversity of individuals and teams. (II, IV, V)
5. Communicate in a culturally responsive manner to build trust and rapport with peers and instructors. (II, IV, V)
6. Model industry accepted professional appearance, ethical behavior, personal hygiene standards, and personal wellness strategies. (II-IV)
7. Evaluate a client`s consultation, goals, and commitment to select an appropriate service or product. (II-V)
8. Perform safety and sanitation practices in compliance with the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology (AZBOC). (III, IV)
9. Document accurate treatment records and consult forms. (III-V)
