Description: Theory and practice of interpersonal communication skills which affect day-to-day social interactions with other persons. May include using verbal and nonverbal symbols, active listening, resolving interpersonal conflict, understanding cultural perspectives, and developing and maintaining personal and professional relationships.

1. Describe the relationship between language and communication. (I)
2. Apply listening theories and practices to create messages appropriate to the interpersonal audience, purpose, and context. (I)
3. Explain the elements and characteristics of nonverbal communication. (I)
