Description: Theory and application of advanced skin care modalities, resurfacing, and cosmetic chemistry. Hair removal techniques, makeup application, and an introduction to body treatments is also included. Application of theory and skills through treatment services provided to the public. Focus on communication and documentation to create customized treatment plans and product recommendations for clients that follow all safety and infection control procedures in compliance with the Arizona Board of Cosmetology (AZBOC).



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Perform advanced skincare and body treatments considering underlying skin conditions, contraindications, and infection control protocols. (I)
2. Perform safety and sanitation practices in compliance with the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology (AZBOC). (I, II, III)
3. Perform advanced consultation, services, advisement, and documentation within the scope of practice and for the appropriate setting. (I, II, III)
4. Document accurate and ongoing treatment records and consult forms. (I, II, III)
5. Evaluate documentation to assess progress and inform treatment. (I, II, III)
6. Utilize retailing strategies and client education to promote products and treatment series. (I-IV)
7. Create a customized treatment plan with proper product selection based upon a client`s consultation, goals, and commitment. (I-IV)
8. Model industry accepted professional appearance, ethical behavior, personal hygiene standards, and personal wellness strategies. (I-IV)
9. Collaborate effectively with a diversity of individuals and teams. (I-IV)
10. Communicate in a culturally responsive manner to build trust and rapport with others. (I-IV)
11. Demonstrate hair removal techniques following proper safety and infection control procedures. (II)
12. Demonstrate makeup application techniques considering the results of client consultation and utilizing safety and infection control procedures. (III)
