Description: Designed to introduce students of all fitness levels to the fundamentals of resistance training in a safe and supportive environment. Includes hands-on demonstrations of and practice using equipment such as machine weights, free weights, and/or Olympic lifts. Individual workout programs developed under instructor supervision and strategies to integrate resistance training into lifestyle considered.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Perform a variety of resistance training activities and routines in accordance with the rules and health/safety standards of each and as appropriate for individual goals and needs. (I, III-V)
2. Demonstrate proper body mechanics throughout the workout routine with the individualized coaching of a professional trainer. (I, II, IV)
3. Develop a workout routine that integrates resistance training activities appropriate for personal health status, motivations and goals and a plan to sustain its regular practice as part of one`s daily activities. (I, III, IV)
4. Describe lifestyle benefits and opportunities associated with a routine resistance training program. (V)
