Description: Introduction to sport-specific resistance training programs to enhance athletic performance. Includes focus on advanced assessment and sport-related resistance training, including Olympic lifting with a qualified instructor.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Explain how resistance training can help improve athletic performance in a sport-specific fashion. (I)
2. Demonstrate fundamental skills of sport-specific resistance training exercises. (II)
3. Demonstrate resistance training exercises as dictated by safe practices, rules, traditional guidelines, and etiquette. (III, IV)
4. Develop a plan to sustain an ongoing exercise program in accordance with personal motivations and goals. (III-V)
5. Describe lifestyle benefits associated with resistance training programs. (V)
