Description: Manipulative skills testing of specific skills identified by the scope of practice for EMT Basic Students. Successful completion qualifies the student for EMT Basic Written Exam for National Certification.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify and explain National Registry practical skills testing requirements for students. (I)
2. Identify and explain National Registry practical skills test requ for evaluator. (I)
3. Perform the techniques of initial assessment, SAMPLE(copyright) ( and symptoms, Allergies, Medications, Past pertinent history, Las intake; Events leading up to the present illness, including traum history, focused history, rapid trauma and medical assessment, fo and detailed physical examination, vital signs, and ongoing asses. (II)
4. Use mechanical aids for airway, breathing and circulation. (II)
5. Apply techniques to evaluate an unconscious victim. (II)
6. Administer oxygen to a patient suffering from respiratory or card compromise. (II)
7. Identify and treat a patient with injuries to the head, neck, and. (II)
8. Identify and treat a patient in shock. (II)
9. Identify and treat soft tissue injuries. (II)
10. Stabilize and splint muscular skeletal injuries in extremities. (I)
11. Triage and categorize patient care by priorities in a simulated situation. (II)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
