Description: Integration of practice management concepts and comprehensive quality patient care in preparation for future collaborative practice between dental hygienists and dentists. Students are challenged with practice situations including productivity, conflict management, ethical and legal issues.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify the value of collaboration within the dental team. (I)
2. Explain the contributions of the dental hygienist to the dental practice. (II)
3. Apply leadership and management concepts to dental hygiene employment settings. (III)
4. Discuss the legal concepts that apply to dental hygiene practice. (IV)
5. Utilize ethical decision-making models to approach ethical dilemmas encountered in dental hygiene practice. (V)
6. Discuss the various quality improvement mechanisms employed in dentistry. (VI)
7. Plan an employment strategy to meet individual professional goals. (VII)
8. Develop a long-term plan to promote professional satisfaction. (VIII)
