Description: Creation of pattern designs by flat pattern methods. Produce a variety of styles. Production of an original pattern design and garment.

1. Explain the standard flat pattern methods for creating pattern designs. (I) 2. Select and use equipment and materials for pattern design. (II) 3. Explain the difference between full scale and half scale basic patterns. (III) 4. Alter a basic pattern of correct body type and size. (IV) 5. Evaluate the fit of a muslin shell and alter shell to correct fit. (IV-V) 6. Construct a muslin shell using a basic pattern. (V) 7. Construct a sloper using a fitted muslin shell. (V) 8. Define and use pattern making and pattern design terminology. (VI) 9. Explain the process of designing patterns from a sloper. (VII) 10. Label patterns accurately with standard pattern markings. (VII) 11. Explain the methods of slashing and pivoting a sloper when designing darts or dart equivalents. (VIII) 12. Use the sloper to create various half-scale pattern designs. (IX) 13. Sketch garment designs for flat-patternmaking methods. (X) 14. Create a full scale pattern for a garment using a sloper. (XI) 15. Evaluate the designed and constructed garment. (XII)
