Description: Introduction to the basic grammar and vocabulary of Ancient Greek. Includes introductory study of Ancient Greek culture. Practice reading and translating Ancient Greek as well as basic translation of English to Ancient Greek.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Analyze basic morphological and syntactic structures of Ancient Greek. (I)
2. Identify Ancient Greek roots and elements in English and other Indo-European languages. (I)
3. Translate Ancient Greek sentences into English (limited to the introduced vocabulary). (I-II)
4. Translate English sentences into Ancient Greek (limited to the introduced vocabulary). (I-II)
5. Describe aspects of Ancient Greek culture and history. (II)
