Description: Additional skills for nurse assisting in restorative care settings, such as reinforcing client performance of Activities of Daily Life and assistive efforts for optimizing client independence.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Differentiate between nursing assistant role and restorative nursing assistant (RNA). (I)
2. Recognize and discuss the RNA role with plan of care for optimizing client independence. (I, II)
3. Reinforce client teaching for increasing client performance of activities of daily life (ADLs). (I-IX)
4. Implement activity plan of care including positioning and range of motion, depending on client`s condition. (II, III, V, VIII, IX)
5. Demonstrate use of adaptive/assistive and therapeutic devices to achieve optimal independence in performing ADLs. (II, IV, VII, VIII)
6. Report and record client condition to appropriate health care provider. (III)
7. Implement pain management in collaboration with the health care team. (V)
8. Communicate professionally with client, client`s significant others, and health care team. (VI, X)
9. Discuss nutrition, physiology, and complications associated with eating and dysphagia. (VII)
10. Demonstrate safe feeding and positioning of client. (VII)
11. Document accurately in client records. (X)
12. Correctly use terminology and abbreviations. (X)
