Description: Comprehensive overview of the art, science, and role of coaching and teaching resiliency for the following issues: personal and work-related stress, burnout, traumatic stress, and compassion fatigue. Develop pedagogical techniques and practical application of evidence-based interventions in biobehavioral self-regulation, mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, positive psychology, peer support, and holistic self-care. Designed to develop skills as a health and wellness coach in professional resiliency for enhancing health and quality of life.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify the ethical and legal responsibilities of coaching. (I)
2. Demonstrate the elements of effective coaching and keys to successful coaching. (II)
3. Describe the principles of reinforcement and motivation. (III)
4. Demonstrate the ability to teach the neurophysiological process of stress in the generation of traumatic stress, burnout and compassion fatigue symptoms. (IV)
5. Demonstrate the ability to teach common etiologies for traumatic stress, burnout and compassion fatigue. (V)
6. Demonstrate the ability to teach the key components of a six (6)-point system for the prevention of traumatic stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and other workplace-related stress. (VI)
7. Demonstrate the ability to design a six-point professional resiliency plan. (VII)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies.
