Description: Controls of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GDT) including the form, orientation, profile and location. Includes qualifying controls per engineering documentation for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 2009 Standard.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Use engineering documentation to identify feature control symbols according to the appropriate standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or International Standards Organization (ISO). (I)
2. Interpret GDT symbols relative to the manufactured part. (II-IX)
3. Verify GDT symbols relative to the manufactured part. (II-IX)
4. Apply inspection principles to qualify GDT callout. (X)
5. Apply principles of GDT with functional gages. (X)
6. Apply mathematical skills to solve manufacturing problems. (XI)
7. Effectively document work. (I-XI)
8. Effectively work within a team structure. (I-XI)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work. Please see individual course syllabi for additional information, including specific course requirements.
