Description: Analysis and evaluation of ergonomics risk factors for occupational tasks. Application of theories, methods, and techniques used in work design and systems. Methodological problems in human information processing, human control functions, human-machine interface, work design and process evaluation.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify ergonomics and human capability considerations for tasks, work and environments design. (I)
2. Understand human capabilities and utilize published criteria (e.g. physical, physiological, psychological) to recommend ergonomic and safety improvements in design. (II)
3. Identify ergonomic and human factors risks that could result in injury, system failure, poor quality or other undesired outcomes. (II, III)
4. Apply principles of ergonomics and human factors to work design and man-machine integration. (III)
5. Apply appropriate ergonomic risk analysis models based on task requirements, and criteria. (III)
6. Collect data needed for ergonomic and human factors analysis, including those data needed as input for ergonomic models or design analysis. (III)
7. Analyze ergonomic risk factors and physiological needs/requirements of occupational tasks. (III)
8. Apply knowledge of ergonomic risk factors, analysis tools, established criteria, employee symptoms, and other related principles to the development of potential solutions to reduce ergonomic risk of injury or human system overload. (III)
9. Classify recommendations according to type (engineering/administrative) and expected risk factor that they will reduce. (III)
10. Collaborate to evaluate and document the results of a project solution. (III)
11. Evaluate current workforce issues and those of special populations that relate to ergonomic task analysis and methods. (IV)
