Description: Designed to provide an overview of pathophysiologic principles, epidemiology, comprehensive assessment, differential diagnosis, and pharmacology for various medical conditions. Develops psychomotor skills in the paramedic scope of practice through sequenced lab simulations. Prepares students to implement a management plan in the Paramedic scope of practice for gynecologic, obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric emergencies, neonatal care, and patients with special challenges.




MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Perform comprehensive patient assessment utilizing technology and techniques according to the Paramedic scope of practice. (I)
2. Integrate pathophysiologic principles, epidemiology, and comprehensive assessment to formulate a differential diagnosis for gynecologic, obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric emergencies, and patients with special challenges. (I, II)
3. Integrate knowledge of pharmacologic agents to manage gynecologic, obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric emergencies, and patients with special challenges. (III)
4. Integrate the pathophysiological significance of assessment findings with simulation to implement a patient management plan in the paramedic scope of practice for gynecologic, obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric emergencies, and patients with special challenges. (III)
