1. Describe the five functions of the plant safety and health manager. (I)
2. Define and demonstrate the impact of federal regulations on safety and health concerns and emergency management in the workplace. (I, III) 3. Evaluate building and facility features, including floors and stairways, working surfaces, and structural egress paths, and the construction and maintenance of each from a safety and health standpoint. (I, IV, X, XV) 4. Identify egress paths, exits and assembly points needed for safe emergency egress. (I, IV, X, XV) 5. Identify and analyze workplace and natural hazards. (I, XV) 6. Describe the four concepts of hazard avoidance. (II) 7. Describe safe handling and storage procedures for hazardous materials. (V) 8. List and discuss the points that should be included in a fire prevention plan. (VI, XIII) 9. Describe the correct procedures for safe mechanical and manual handling of various materials. (VII) 10. Describe the various steps required for machine and tool safeguarding, including: the point of operation, power transmission apparatus, saws, abrasive wheel machinery, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and powered and non-powered hand tools. (VIII, IX) 11. Develop and implement safe work practices for controlling hazardous energy. (X) 12. Collaborate with peers to solve occupational health and safety problems. (X, XIV) 13. List observable conditions that could indicate the presence of health, safety, and emergency evacuation hazards. (XI, XV) 14. Describe the meaning, uses, and purpose of various safety colors and signs, including: danger, caution, exit, electrical, noise, eye, moving vehicle, and radiation, biological, and chemical hazards.
