Description: Private Instruction emphasizing developmental improvement of musicianship and technique from an entering skill level. Four-course sequence required of all music majors meeting departmental requirements. Instruction provided on voice, piano, harpsichord, organ, guitar, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone horn, tuba, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, violin, viola, violoncello, contrabass, bass guitar, percussion, and harp.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate vocal technique commensurate with proficiency level. (I)
2. Develop and employ an effective collection of audition/portfolio materials to highlight relevant aspects of musical abilities. (I-II)
3. Demonstrate elements of musicianship during performance. (II)
4. Perform a variety of vocal literature commensurate with proficiency level. (III)
5. Perform in a variety of languages. (IV)
6. Perform selected pieces in a public form. (V)
