Description: Continuation of application of holistic nursing concepts and assessments related to health promotion, disease/illness prevention and health restoration of individuals and families. Provides continued opportunity for the development of clinical competency in the performance of selected nursing skills, participation in the care of clients with alterations in health. Provides clinical experiences with adult, pediatric, well childbearing clients and childrearing families in a variety of acute care and community settings. Application of nursing concepts in the development of care plans as well as concepts of pathophysiology, nutrition, and communication. Includes participation in client teaching and discharge planning

1. Demonstrate consistent use of critical thinking skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate plan of care. (I)
2. Implement an established teaching plan for clients and families. (I)
3. Participate in design and implementation of discharge planning. (I)
4. Document client findings and conditions through recording and reporting. (I)
5. Develop holistic nursing care plans for selected clients using wellness/illness continuum that includes development and learning needs. (I, II, IV)
6. Apply therapeutic communication skills with childbearing clients, childbearing families, and pediatric and adult clients with alterations in health. (II)
7. Demonstrate caring behaviors to childbearing clients, childbearing clients, childrearing families, and pediatric and adults with alterations in health. (II, VI)
8. Implement interventions that safeguard client health and well-being. (III)
9. Practice within regulatory, legal, and ethical frameworks of nursing. (III, V)
10. Collaborate with health team members to provide nursing care. (V)
11. Manage a group of clients utilizing delegation, time management, and organization skills. (V, VII)
12. Perform specific nursing interventions for adults and pediatric clients with alterations in health, childbearing clients, and childrearing families (III, VI, VII)
13. Apply pharmacotherapeutic principles to safely administer medications to clients. (III, VII)
14. Administer peripheral unmedicated intravenous therapy. (VII)
15. Demonstrate safe performance of selected clinical skills/procedures. (VII)
