Description: Basic components and operations of power train systems used in Caterpillar machines. Covers basic components, clutches, manual shift transmissions, and power shift transmissions.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Explain basic principles and components of the power train, including drive systems. (I) 2. Identify couplings and explain their function in the power train. (II) 3. Contrast manual and power shift transmissions, and explain controls for the power shift transmission. (III)
