Description: Emphasis on the weld certification process including the Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR), Welder Performance Qualification Test Record (WPQTR), and the Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) welding processes.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Review the WPQR for weld process to test. (I)
2. Review the WPQTR for weld process to test. (II)
3. Review the WPS for weld process to test. (III)
4. Select proper welding base material applying WPS. (III)
5. Select proper filler material applying WPS. (III)
6. Select proper joining method applying WPS. (III)
7. Demonstrate tacking of base material for Certification test per WPS. (III, IV)
8. Demonstrate setting base metal in test stand, adjust height and direction to ensure proper position per WPS. (III, IV)
9. Apply root pass of base material per WPS. (III, IV)
10. Examine root pass to verify compliance with WPS. (III, IV)
11. Apply filler passes as necessary to fill up grove in base material per WPS. (III, IV)
12. Examine fill passes to verify it conform to WPS. (III, IV)
13. Apply cap on base material per WPS. (III, IV)
14. Examine fill passes to verify it conform to WPS. (III, IV)
15. Apply stamp identification number into finished test coupon. (IV)
