Description: Designed to assess the allied healthcare provider in the skills of Basic Life Support (BLS) according to current guidelines for emergency cardiovascular care (ECC).



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate ability to assess and respond appropriately to needs in an emergency. (I, II, III, IV)
2. Demonstrate proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS) and one-rescuer and two-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants according to current Healthcare Provider guidelines. (I, II, IV)
3. Demonstrate proficiency in use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to current Healthcare Provider guidelines during cardiac arrest management of individuals of all ages. (I, II, IV)
4. Demonstrate proficiency in administering rescue breathing, according to current Healthcare Provider guidelines, in adults, infants and children. (I, III, IV)
5. Demonstrate proficiency in responding to choking incidents (clearing foreign body airway obstructions), according to current Healthcare Provider guidelines, in individuals of all ages. (I, III, IV)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
