Description: The use of computer hardware and software in the fashion design industry. Create and illustrate fashion designs using computer hardware and software. Color and design principles applied in creating an apparel line and developing a portfolio



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify software programs, features, and applications for computer-assisted design (CAD) in the fashion design industry. (I)
2. Identify hardware and software terminology in computer- assisted design. (II)
3. Operate computer hardware and use appropriate software for fashion designing. (II)
4. Use hardware and software to scan textiles and flats. (III)
5. Use scanned images or original textile designs to create textiles and flats. (III)
6. Use paint program tools to draw, paint, and create program effects. (III)
7. Use industry software and the elements and principles of design to create, scan, and print apparel designs. (III)
8. Use industry software applications for color reduction, reducing images, setting up a swatch, and painting with a swatch. (IV)
9. Use scanned or original designs to create an apparel line. (V)
10. Use principles and elements of design and computer software to create a portfolio. (VI)
11. Use principles and elements of design to develop a swipe collection portfolio. (VI)
