Description: Clinical application of nursing theory to the pediatric patient. Focuses on effective physical assessment techniques, and changes in nursing skills for the pediatric patient.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate pediatric assessment techniques by performing a head-to-toe physical assessment on an infant, toddler, preschooler and adolescent.(I)
2. Describe proper assessment techniques to identify the anatomical differences between pediatric patients and adults. (I)
3. Demonstrate safe administration of medications for the pediatric patient. (II)
4. Describes the critical elements of discharge teaching for the family and the pediatric patient. (II)
5. Synthesizes knowledge and skill related to acute and chronic disorders of the pediatric patient necessary for the management of selected conditions. (VII, VIII, IX)
6. Synthesizes a plan of care utilizing appropriate interventions for selected pediatric patient`s developmental level. (VII, VIII, IX)
