Description: Concepts, techniques, and skills needed to support technical rope rescue. Meets Arizona Fire Marshal Office requirements for RR1, RR2, RR3 and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1670 Operational Rope Rescue



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify the State of Arizona Fire Marshall requirements for Rope Rescue 1, 2 and 3. (I)
2. Identify appropriate rope rescue software and hardware and the manufacturer`s break strength for each piece of equipment. (II)
3. Construct single point and multi point anchors. (III, V)
4. Identify components of a simple Mechanical Advantage (MA) and list the applicable rules of MA construction. (VI)
5. Construct simple 2: 1, 3: 1, and 5: 1 Mechanical Advantage. (VI)
6. Identify the correct angles for low angel, steep angle, and high angle terrains. (IX)
7. Identify, construct, and operate a single person belay line and a system working line. (XIII, XIV)
8. Demonstrate packaging of a patient in a stokes litter. (IV, XI)
9. Demonstrate donning of a rescue harness. (II)
10. Perform the role of a litter bearer during a low angle and steep angle evacuation. (XIII, XIV)
11. Rappel on steep angle and vertical angle terrains. (IX)
12. Ascend a vertical line. (X)
13. Demonstrate passing a knot while on rappel and on a system belay line during a lower and raise. (VII, VIII)
14. Perform a self-rescue of a jammed rappel device while on rappel. (X, XIV)
15. Identify high angle rescue pickoff methods. (IX)
16. Engage in a team based high angle supported and unsupported pickoff. (XIII)
17. Perform the role of edge-man during a high angle evacuation. (XII, XIII)
18. Perform the role on a high angle litter attendant. (XII, XIII)
19. Perform the role of the Safety Officer. (XII, XIII)
20. Perform the role of the Technical Sector Officer (TSO). (XII, XIII)
