Description: Study of the dental hygiene process of care with emphasis on the patient with special needs and advanced instrumentation. Students participate in field observations and present case documentations



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Summarize oral health conditions related to dental hygiene care for patients with special needs. (I)
2. Formulate and recommend dental hygiene care plans for patients with special needs. (II)
3. Debate the implications of the Americans with Disabilities Act upon dental hygiene practice. (III)
4. Define cultural competencies and implications for dental hygiene practice for patients with special needs. (IV)
5. Prepare and present a case documentation of a patient with special needs. (V)
6. Summarize field observations of surgical periodontal procedures and dental hygiene care in a periodontal practice. (VI)
