Description: Opportunity for advanced students to use his/her developed knowledge and skills in an applied setting with supervision.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Explain the philosophy and mission of the host agency and the specific policies and procedures for the placement setting. (I)
2. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the practicum student in the host agency. (I)
3. Demonstrate basic skills in dealing with the addicted client. (II)
4. Perform basic assessment functions as outlined by the host agency. (III)
5. As a member of a clinical team, assess client needs and develop an individualized treatment plan. (IV, V)
6. Implement a planned course of treatment based on a clinical team assessment. (V)
7. As a member of a clinical team, evaluate treatment plans and make adjustments. (V)
8. Observe and record client-related data and information in written form which meets legal and professional standards. (VI)
9. Demonstrate skills required to handle a crisis or emergency. (VII)
10. Assess and evaluate needs of special population clients. (VIII)
