Description: Application of industry-specific IT skills to entry-level Healthcare IT software development projects, with particular skills emphasis on high-growth areas such as interoperability, security and Mobile Health (mHealth).

1. Describe the evolving architecture of major healthcare IT infrastructures. (I)
2. Describe software development components currently being used on healthcare IT infrastructure projects. (I)
3. Discuss the importance of data integration standards such as HL7 and their use to enable interoperability in the healthcare environment. (II)
4. Create selected HL7 messages. (II)
5. Build a HL7 interface engine. (II)
6. Explain the use and characteristics of HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA). (II)
7. Describe healthcare security issues, standards, and approaches. (III)
8. Implement a secure healthcare data transfer. (III)
9. Discuss evolving mHealth applications, technologies, and standards. (IV)
10. Design, develop, and test selected web-based mHealth applications. (IV)
