Description: Provides Veterinary Technology program students with off-campus clinical experience in a small animal general veterinary practice. Opportunity for practical application and development of knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in program coursework. Exposure to practice philosophies, methodologies, and real-life situations requiring critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Includes instruction and evaluation by veterinarians or veterinary technicians guided by the American Veterinary Medical Association`s Veterinary Technology Student Essential and Recommended Skills list.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Perform essential and recommended skills specified by the American Veterinary Medical Association, as appropriate in a small animal general veterinary practice. (I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII)
2. Describe the roles and responsibilities of a veterinary technician in a small animal general veterinary practice. (I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII)
3. Demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making abilities in a clinical practice setting. (I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII)
