Description: Experience with creating an online or hybrid duplicative course module structure in an online teaching and learning environment using evidence-based practices in course design. Develop learning objectives and module map based on curricular principles. Using instructional design techniques develop and align materials, activities, assignments and assessments to learning objectives. Discuss and develop active learning strategies for presenting content, facilitating discussions, creating assignments and administering assessments in the online environment.

1. Identify and discuss the role of the Learning Management System (LMS) and characteristics in creating and managing the teaching and learning environment. (I)
2. Design a course module map according to instructional design techniques. (II)
3. Write measurable learning objectives for online activities. (II)

5. Identify and discuss the role and issues in developing and using online student engagement activities. (III)

7. Identify and discuss the role, issues, management/moderation and engagement strategies for developing a discourse community through discussion boards. (IV)
8. Create an online discussion board considering effective strategies for developing, using and managing online discussion boards. (IV, VIII)
9. Develop a rubric considering best practice strategies in creating performance criteria to assess student learning. (V, VIII)
10. Describe the characteristics of effective assessments for online learning environments. (V)
11. Develop a classroom assessment technique that provides feedback on the aligned student learning objectives. (V, VIII)
12. Explain quality assurance best practice models for online learning and their role in student success. (VI)
13. Evaluate and apply quality assurance best practice standards for online course design. (VI)
14. Survey and integrate technology that supports active learning in an online environment. (VII, VIII)
