Description: Introduction and overview of the disease and treatment of cancer including cancer origin, development, pathology, staging, hematopoiesis, epidemiology, diagnosis modalities, treatment options, cancer research and differentiation of solid tumors versus nonsolid tumors. Effective analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of topics through written discourse.

2. Contrast and differentiate staging versus grading in cancer. (I)
3. Describe the role of the tumor registrar and the pathologist. (I)
4. Discuss the epidemiology, diagnosis, staging and treatment of specific cancers. (II)
5. Describe the process of hematopoiesis by listing the progenitor cells and their offspring. (III)
6. Define the difference between humoral and cell-mediated immunity. (III)
7. Compare acute and chronic types of leukemia. (III)
8. Compare Hodgkin`s Lymphoma with Non-Hodgkin`s Lymphoma. (III)
9. Describe the stages and drug development process of cancer research. (IV)
10. Describe three structural and three metabolic emergencies in oncology and their treatment options. (V)
