Description: Emphasis on the acquisition of basic English vocabulary including identifying and pronouncing words related to people, medical/dental care, occupations and other activities.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify and pronounce nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, and adverbs relating to people, relationships, the human body, foods, the household, the weather, and medical and dental care. (I) 2. Use nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, and adverbs relation to people, relationships, the human body, foods, the household, the weather, medical and dental care, and public institutions and community services in oral and written context, including compound and complex sentences and paragraphs. (I) 3. Associate pictures with oral cues in sentence form. (I) 4. Identify commonly used verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, and conjunctions in context. (II) 5. Use commonly used verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, and conjunctions in context. (II)
