Description: Operation and development of creative skills in the commercial music production process. Geared towards music producers and emphasizing analysis and comprehension of commercial music styles and genres, including: pop, country, rock, soul, rhythm and blues, funk, and hip-hop. Study of the thematic organization of popular musical styles.

1. Identify contemporary styles in current music production. (I-VII)
2. Describe genres and sub-genres in current music production. (I-VII)
3. Identify trends and style influences in contemporary commercial music. (I-VII)
4. Summarize key musical works and artists in the commercial music industry in history and today. (I-VII)
5. Describe thematic conventions in commercial music styles. (I-VII)
6. Compare and contrast the different stylistic conventions in different music genres. (I-VII)
7. Establish an expanded musical language through identification of standard patterns in music genres. (I-VII)
