Subject Type: Occupational
Load Formula: S- Standard

Description: Medical terminology, anatomy, physical principles, and technology for determining proper technical factors. Anatomical variants, normal, and pathological sonographic findings in musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound case presentations.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Utilize ultrasound, medical, technical and physical terms. (I)
2. Describe normal and abnormal musculoskeletal anatomy of the extremities. (II, VI)
3. Identify sonographic criteria seen on ultrasound images to include cystic, solid, and complex structures. (III)
4. Apply ultrasound physical principles related to creating ultrasound images. (IV)
5. Differentiate between normal anatomic and pathological musculoskeletal conditions seen on ultrasound images of the extremities. (V)
6. Evaluate ultrasound artifacts seen on diagnostic images related to ultrasound technique. (VI)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work. Please see individual course syllabi for additional information, including specific course requirements.
