1. Use fabric and clothing construction terminology. (I)
2. Operate the sewing machine effectively and use other sewing equipment/tools appropriately. (II) 3. Use correct pressing equipment and techniques during the construction of garments. (III) 4. Measure bust/chest, waist, hip, back waist length, crotch depth, and height accurately. (IV) 5. Select pattern size and styles appropriate to individual skills and figure type. (IV) 6. List information provided on the back of the pattern envelope. (IV) 7. Use the back of the pattern envelope to figure yardage for garment style and size. (IV) 8. Interpret guidesheet symbols and directions accurately. (IV) 9. Select compatible interfacing and fashion fabric for clothing construction projects. (V-VI) 10. Apply fusible and nonfusible interfacing to fashion fabrics. (V) 11. Straighten grainline on woven fabrics. (VI) 12. Use guidesheet to place pattern pieces on fabric. (VI) 13. Cut and mark fabric for samples and projects accurately. (VI) 14. Apply clothing construction techniques to seams and seam finishes, darts, facing, collar, gathering, hems, zippers, and waistband. (VII) 15. Fit and alter a pattern. (VIII) 16. Construct shirt/blouse with convertible collar, set-in sleeves, buttons, and buttonholes. (VIII) 17.
