51-9141.00 Semiconductor Manufacturing Processing Technology

Description: The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Industrial Technology for Semiconductor prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to operate and monitor equipment for the fabrication of semiconductors or microchips from silicon wafers, and to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the specialized equipment used in this process. Includes instruction in AC and DC circuits, digital fundamentals, solid state devices, manufacturing processes, vacuum principles and technology, industrial electronics, quality assurance, and semiconductor manufacturing technology.

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the semiconductor industry and job types within the industry. (AIT132)
2. Define the principles and rules of a Lean organizational approach to continuous improvement. (AIT132)
3. Demonstrate safe and proper use of hand tools commonly associated with preventative and corrective maintenance activities in a semiconductor factory. (AIT132)
4. Demonstrate knowledge of safety protocols for clean rooms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to avoid workplace injury and ensure product protection. (AIT132)
5. Apply knowledge of basic semiconductor manufacturing concepts and processes, basic industrial electrical principles, schematics, circuits, hand tools, and appropriate problem-solving models to troubleshoot and address problems in the semiconductor industry. (AIT132)
6. Apply knowledge of vacuum components, procedures, theory, and hand tools to efficiently and effectively troubleshoot common issues found in a system under vacuum. (AIT132)
