Changes to Majors on Common Course Matrix : Family Studies & Consumer Sciences - Human Development Common Course Matrix: Delete UA's BS program, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, from the list of Shared Majors

Changes to Common Course Matrices : Family Studies & Consumer Sciences - Merchandising & Retailing Common Course Matrix:

Introduction to Retail
UA shows RCSC 214 (is 214 a typo; should it be 114?)
- Maricopa's MKT 109 and TEC 109 show RCSC 114 in CEG for UA

Visual Merchandising
NAU shows MER 431 (is this correct?)
- Maricopa's MKT 151 shows MER Departmental Elective in CEG for NAU

Family Studies & Consumer Sciences - Human Development Common Course Matrix:

According to the Common Course Matrix attachment to the 10/02/09 ATF Meeting Report, the "4th semester language proficiency should be attained before transferring to ASU. If more than 60 hours are transferred, students would graduate with more than 120 credits" had a strikethrough indicating it was to be deleted from the ASU Tempe BS Family & Human Development Degree. That information still shows on the Fall 2010 matrix. Should that information be deleted?

Delete UA's BS program, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, from the list of Shared Majors

Human Development:
- NAU shows Valid thru Summer II 2010 for PSY 240 for AWC. Is this correct? NAU doesn't show this end term for any of the other colleges for PSY 240.
- Should ASU footnote (101) be removed from CAC as the CAC course PSY 203 has a direct equivalent to ASU's CDE 232 effective Fall 2010?

For AWC, change FCS238 to FAS238/PSY238

Suggested courses that might be added:
CCC: PSY 240
Dine: PSY 240
EAC: PSY 250
Mohave: PSY 240
NPC: PSY 240

Changes to Exam Equivalency Matrices : For the next ATF meeting, ASU identify the following AP/CLEP tests:

FHD CLEP, CDE 232

The ATF may want to discuss these exams/scores at their next meeting.

Effective Date for AGEC Change :
AGEC Information :
Additional Comment/ Discussion Items : Members who would like to make changes to the Membership roster should work with their ATAC person at their institution.
Changes to Pathways :
Issues Raised : The Family Consumer Sciences ATF met with the Early Childhood ATF, and the group expressed the following concerns.

[Regarding the Dual Enrollment (DE) Course notes] - The DE notes could be misleading and the ATF is not sure that the disclaimer is sufficient. They also expressed concerns that the teachers who are teaching dual enrollment courses are not certified. They wanted it reinforced that in order to teach community college courses, the teachers need to meet the community colleges hiring qualifications.

The group wanted their concerns noted regarding the Grand Canyon Diploma, These concerns included FERPA, minors/underage students, service learning courses, etc. How do institutions define college age students? They recommended statewide policy to help address underage students since this will impact all institutions.

Both ATFs recommended that the Arizona Transfer and Alignment System (ATAS) Org Chart be changed. Under Academic and Student Affairs, it looks hierarchical.
Which Matrix for Pathway Changes :
Curriculum Planning : The group discussed their AAS-BAS options and wanted to know how they can incorporate this information into the advising resources/tools on aztransfer.com. ATF Members plan to work on a proposal before their next meeting.
