Description: Utilization of laboratory diagnostic examination results for evaluation of patient conditions. Normal results for selected body fluids. Abnormal results related to pathophysiological conditions of adults. Incorporation of results of examinations to assess, modify, and evaluate therapy for patients with specific conditions



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Recognize normal values for laboratory tests utilized to assess hematologic function, organ function, and metabolic function in adults. (I, II, VI)
2. Relate abnormalities in laboratory results to clinical findings. (II, III, IV)
3. Describe the use of laboratory examinations to evaluate and adjust patient therapy. (V)
4. Recognize potentially life-threatening results which require immediate action. (V)
5. Recognize therapeutic and non-therapeutic blood levels of medications. (V)
