Description: Practical class with emphasis on techniques of playing and teaching percussion instruments including hand position, rudiments, stick control, and elements of reading rhythms



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe the various types of sticks/mallets for indefinite pitched percussion instruments. (I)
2. Describe stick/mallet control techniques. (I, II)
3. Describe various teaching techniques for beginning level percussion players. (I, II, III)
4. Perform easy to intermediate solo pieces. (II, III)
5. Describe appropriate solo and ensemble literature for various levels. (III)
6. Describe teaching method books for percussion instruments. (III)
