Description: Exploration into the specific requirements associated with kitchen and bath design. Emphasis on the design process and computer-based tools for interior design.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Develop skill in programming for kitchen and bath design. (I)
2. Gather and analyze information to create schematic designs for kitchen and bath. (II)
3. Develop and present two- and three-dimensional designs for kitchen and bath to include concept statements and client profiles. (III)
4. Identify and explain the purpose of various components of construction documents related to interior design of kitchens and baths. (IV)
5. Demonstrate verbal presentation skills. (I-II)
6. Interview real clients and research an area to be remodeled. (III)
7. Develop a remodeling design concept that is in concert with the lifestyle of the client and the space available. (III)
8. Create schematics and presentation boards that visually interpret the remodeling project. (III)
9. Present the total remodeling concept to the client using professional vernacular, presentation boards, sales priciples, and closing techniques. (III)
10. Interview real clients and research a kitchen area to be redesigned. (IV)
11. Develop a kitchen design concept that is in concert with the lifestyle of the client and the space available. (IV)
12. Create schematics and presentation boards and/or blueprints that visually interpret the kitchen area to be redesigned. (IV)
13. Present the total kitchen design concept to the client using professional vernacular, presentation boards, sales principles, and closing techniques. (IV)
