Description: Origins and creation myths, the materials world, and the spiritual world as themes in the humanities



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe and analyze origin myths of various cultures. (I)
2. Trace the historical beginnings of artistic expression in the four cradles of civilization, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China, and other world cultures. (I)
3. Analyze architecture, sculpture, painting, dance, drama, and media of various cultures. (II)
4. Analyze various cultural perspectives on the environment. (II)
5. Analyze various cultural views of the relationship between humanity and the environment. (II)
6. Describe the worldviews promoted by Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and other world religions. (III)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
