Description: Third module of the second level of English as a Second Language (ESL). Continued emphasis on conversational skills, pronunciation, vocabulary building, and grammar with some reading and sentence-to-paragraph-level writing.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Write complex sentences that combine dependent and independent clauses, nouns, verbs, phrases, and correct punctuation. (I)
2. Write complex sentences in which the subjects and verbs agree. (I)
3. Create an outline for a short paragraph. (I)
4. Use capital letters and punctuation correctly in a written paragraph. (I)
5. Write and edit a short paragraph consisting of simple and compound sentences based on a model that includes a title, topic sentence, and support. (I)
6. Use grammar functions correctly in sentences and paragraph. (II)
7. Use commonly confused verbs correctly in sentences. (II)
