Description: Factors that affect the establishment and maintenance of turf grasses. Includes budgets, schedules and selection of equipment



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Identify varieties of turf grasses, and describe the uses for which they are suited. (I)
2. Describe the requirements of healthy turf grass, including soils, nutrition, fertilizer, and water. (I)
3. Identify the equipment used to establish and maintain turf grass. (I)
4. Explain land preparation techniques and planting methods that are used to establish turf grass. (II)
5. Explain the purpose and methods of irrigating turf grass. (III)
6. Describe the cultural practices used in overseeding turf grass. (III)
7. Identify common weeds, insects, and diseases that threaten turf grass, and recommend methods of pest control. (IV)
