Description: This course emphasizes developing critical analysis skills in order to find effective and intelligent ways of viewing and discussing choreography, dance for film, and lighting design for dance. Students will view masterpiece examples of choreography, dance for film, and lighting design from notable artists during the 20th and 21st centuries spanning various genres of dance.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Define terms used to describe effective choreography, dance in film and lighting design. (I-III)
2. Identify characteristics of choreography, dance in film and lighting design that create effective artistic works. (I-III)
3. Examine and distinguish various perspectives from which to view and speak about choreography, dance for film and lighting design. (I-III)
4. Analyze the effectiveness of choreography spanning various styles from 20th and 21st centuries. (I)
5. Analyze the effectiveness of dance for film spanning various styles from 20th and 21st centuries. (II)
6. Analyze the effectiveness of lighting design for dance. (III)
