Description: Basic introduction to playing piano through music reading, chords, rhythmic, and written activities. Designed for those with little or no piano experience.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Locate notes on the piano keyboard. (I)
2. Locate notes on the music staff. (II)
3. Play five note patterns in major and minor keys. (II, V)
4. Use root position primary chords to improvise simple accompaniments for folk melodies. (III)
5. Perform simple solo pieces. (IV)
6. Clap and notate easy rhythmic patterns. (VI)
