Description: Introduction to 3D modeling using 3D Studio Max. Emphasis will be placed on polygonal, solid, and surface modeling tools. Students will also understand concepts such as modifiers, sub-object editing, extruding, Booleans, lofting, lathing and compound object modeling. Introduction to basic lighting, texturing and rendering techniques.



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the interface and navigation within the 3D Studio Max environment. (I, II)
2. Assemble a professional portfolio of computer generated three- dimensional art. (III)
3. Model and render three-dimensional images and animation, illustrating the illusion of space. (IV)
4. Create both realistic and non-representational objects using polygonal, solid, and surface modeling techniques. (II, III)
5. Create an environment using three-dimensional models. (V)
