Additional Comment/ Discussion Items : What models are your institutions using to support retention and student success (ex. Guided Pathways, etc.)?
EAC: Carolyn McCormies presented at the Nurse Educators? program. They have a retention specialist at the college who does outreach immediately when attendance or scores decrease. In the nursing program, they do coaching and they have had an increase in retention and NCLEX and student satisfaction.
PCC: moving to the Guided Pathways Model across the institution by next fall. Two teammates in nursing that have developed a model for student retention in the program. This has reduced attrition from high-30?s to about 12% in one year. They will be presenting on this in November.
MCCCD: Also moving to Guided Pathways Model

What impact has interdisciplinary/cross-disciplinary programs had on your discipline?
NAU/Pam: We are going to be doing some simulations with Dental Hygiene. Also trying to work on going with PA program. Also developing an interdisciplinary doctorate with social-behavioral services people.
Mohave/June: don?t know the impact right now, but also engaging Dental Hygiene Program re oral care. Also, PT assisting students taught body mechanics and mobility. The interaction was amazing, students loved it. Not sure if it had an impact on nurse skills.
Yavapai/Mary: Starting to work with paramedic students, practicing the handoff in the ER in simulations. Also bringing in drama students to work as patients in scenarios.
EAC/Carolyn: Loves the idea of integrating drama students! They are requiring nursing students to do community service and leadership hours every semester. For leadership, senior nursing students must donate 4 hours per semester with either younger students or students in phlebotomy, etc.

How can we support the Achieve60AZ initiative to increase educational attainment in Arizona to 60% by 2030?
This initiative was presented and decreed by the legislature. They want public institutions to increase attainment at associates or higher to 60%. We are currently at 20%.
PCC: The institution has made this a priority in the new strategic plan, and all divisions are being challenged to create pathways and engage additional populations.
Yavapai/Mary: transitioned to pathways; if a student wants to go into health and wellness there is a pathway with common courses that will help students prevent wasted credits.

Each spring, AZTransfer develops and hosts the AZTransfer Summit, a two-day conference focusing on transfer in Arizona. Are there relevant practices, research, or other topics within your institutions that could be submitted as session proposals?
None
Issues Raised : None
Curriculum Planning : Pima CC has several changes: Two addition of new concurrent programs with GCE with a bridge to a master's program. Also a new BSN concurrent with PHX University; currently in the process of removing the four-year math requirement for BIO201, BIO202 and using a multiple measures process to assure students are prepared to enter the program. Actively assessing whether to move from it. algebra or topics in college mathematics as the starting point math competency. Those are the major highlights.

Northland: currently working on policy and plan to integrate simulation Amber.

Cochise: will implement a separate LPN cohort and an LPN to RN cohort program. These will start Spring/summer respectively.

Mohave: restructured over the summer, one director position overall nursing programs, no changes to be discussed at this time but potential for future changes.

Central AZ College: concurrent enrollment program with ASU starting spring 2018; added an advanced medical terminology for nursing prior to beginning program.
